About Anchor & Beam Home Services

A small home repair and renovation team based in Algonquin, led by its owner, Azfar Mohammed. The team that measures your job is the team that manages it.

Who you’ll be dealing with

Our team meets every homeowner, measures the job, writes the estimate and manages the work through to the final walk-through. When you have a question, you ask the same people.

We repair and renovate homes people already live in. We don’t build new houses or additions.

Anchor & Beam is owned by Azfar Mohammed, who leads the team. Each trade on your job is done by an insured subcontractor holding any license it requires, and our team manages them from the first visit to the last.

How a job runs

  1. 1

    Tell us what’s going on.

Use the estimate form or email us. A few details and a good time to reach you are enough.

  2. 2

    We get back to you.

Someone from our team calls or texts to arrange a visit at a time that suits you.

  3. 3

    We come out and measure.

Outside and in: gutters and grading, the walls and floor, the ceiling height, the furnace. Whatever the job turns on gets measured before it gets priced.

  4. 4

You get a written, itemized estimate.

What we found, what to do first, what it costs and what can wait, with a start date and an expected finish. No pressure to sign on the day.

  5. 5

The work gets done, in order.

You sign an itemized contract first, with the Illinois consumer rights pamphlet the law requires for jobs over $1,000. Then each trade does its part, and we manage the job from start to finish.

  6. 6

    The final walk-through.

We go over the work with you before it’s called finished.

Who does the work

Some contractors make a point of doing everything in-house. We don’t, on purpose. Waterproofing, carpentry, electrical work and heating are different trades, and each part of your job is done by an insured subcontractor holding any license that trade requires.

Electrical work is done by a licensed electrician. Licensing for heating and cooling is set town by town in Illinois, and the installer on your job holds what your town requires.

Ask to see any subcontractor’s license and insurance before work starts.

What you get from Anchor & Beam is one person responsible for all of it, in the order the job needs: the water first, then the room, then the heat.

Your protections

  • A written, itemized contract. Every job over $1,000 gets one, listing the price and the materials, before any work starts.
  • Your rights, in writing. The Illinois “Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights” pamphlet comes with the contract, as the law requires.
  • Licenses and insurance you can check. Ask to see any subcontractor’s license and insurance before work starts.
  • Lead-safe work in older houses. In a house built before 1978, work that disturbs paint follows the EPA’s lead-safe rules, and you get the EPA’s Renovate Right pamphlet before work starts.
  • Who you’re contracting with. Anchor & Beam Home Solutions, Inc., of Algonquin, Illinois.
